Joy McCullough

Associate Clinical Mental Health Counselor, ACMHC

Background

Joy McCullough, ACMHC, is a Licensed Associate Clinical Mental Health Counselor who helps individuals navigate trauma, attachment wounds, relational pain, anxiety, and abuse recovery. She is committed to providing compassionate, client-centered care that fosters healing, clarity, and growth.

Joy holds a Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University and integrates evidence-based approaches with a warm, relational style of therapy.

Clinical Focus

  • Trauma and abuse recovery

  • Attachment wounds and relational pain

  • Anxiety and emotional overwhelm

  • Boundaries and relational health

Joy draws from Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment-based therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and is body centered to help clients better understand their internal world, process past experiences, and build healthier patterns and boundaries.

Her approach is trauma-informed, relational, and grounded in creating a safe, supportive environment where clients feel seen, understood, and empowered to grow.

Integrating Faith and Healing

Joy is comfortable incorporating Christian faith into sessions for those who want it, but never assumes or imposes it. She follows each client’s lead, creating space that honors each person’s beliefs, values, and unique personal journey.

Experience and Perspective

With a background in victim advocacy, Joy brings a deep sensitivity and care to those navigating complex trauma and recovery.

In addition to her clinical work, Joy is actively involved in Hello Saints, a platform centered on thoughtful, emotionally intelligent conversations across faith traditions. This experience has shaped her ability to hold space for diverse perspectives with empathy, curiosity, and respect.

Personal Note

As a wife and mother, Joy understands the complexity and weight of everyday life. She offers a grounded, compassionate presence for those seeking healing—creating space for clients to slow down, feel supported, and move toward lasting change.
